📖 The Promise of Protection

“To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy.” — Jude 1:24 (NIV)

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.” — Jude 1:24 (KJV)

During my prayer time today, this beautiful verse was highlighted in my spirit. It is a word the Lord spoke to me many years ago through a prophet. For a long time, I held tightly to this verse whenever I found myself struggling with the flesh or facing difficult trials.

But today, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to a completely different perspective: In order to save us from falling, backsliding, or slipping out of His hands, God will intentionally separate certain people from our lives. Often, we don’t understand the reason until much later.

💔 The Pain of Unexplained Goodbyes

Years ago, at the very beginning of my spiritual journey, I found myself deeply drawn to a certain person. I admired their character, and we grew very close. But just as the bond was strengthening, that person suddenly relocated. Our communication faded, and eventually, there was no contact at all. I was left confused, not knowing why it happened.

Later, with a broken heart, I shared this with my mentor. He gently explained that this relationship was not God’s will. My constant communication with that person was quietly pulling me away from my spiritual life, which was already hanging in the balance. Looking back at my teenage years, I can see a pattern: several strong attractions were suddenly dismantled just as they started getting serious.

💍 The Shattered Dream

The most painful experience came later when I got engaged. The marriage was almost entirely fixed, and I was living in a dream, picturing our life together. Suddenly, I received a call from their parents stating they wanted to cancel the wedding due to arguments between our families.

Devastated, I stepped back. But then, the very person who rejected me began calling me again and again, trying to continue the proposal against their parents’ wishes. We both put in every effort to convince their family, but they simply wouldn’t budge.

The ultimate heartbreak came when the same person who had persistently pursued me ended up sending me their marriage invitation to someone else. I was completely shattered. I spiraled into a deep depression that lasted for years. But God is faithful. Through the counsel of my mentor and the comforting presence of the Holy Spirit, the Lord slowly pulled me out of that dark pit.

✨ The Master Plan Revealed

When I compare the pain of my past with the peace of my present, everything makes sense.

Today, God has placed me in a beautiful season where I seek Him daily through prayer and fellowship. He speaks to me daily through His Word. He comforts me, and He has blessed me with the privilege of being a blessing to others and to His servants.

I would have completely missed this beautiful calling and these spiritual blessings if the Lord had allowed me to stay in those early relationships. I saw this same divine protection in the life of a close friend. He lived in a small town and was deeply infatuated with someone. They were very close, meeting regularly, and everything seemed perfect. Then, out of nowhere, the other person abruptly ended the relationship.

My friend was crushed and fell into a heavy depression. Drawing from my own painful experience, I consoled him and encouraged him to redirect his focus toward his career and his relationship with God. Eventually, God opened a door for him to work abroad! Today, he lives a highly successful life, holds a wonderful position, is happily married to the right person, and is blessed with a beautiful child.

🕊️ Trusting the Hand that Hides You

Now, I truly understand the depth of Jude 1:24.

To keep us from falling or stumbling, God will sometimes remove people from our lives without giving us a reason. His protection doesn’t always look like a shield; sometimes, it looks like rejection. Sometimes, it looks like a closed door.

If you find yourself in this situation today, crying over a broken relationship or an unexplained departure, it may be a friend, lover, or someone very close; stop running behind them. Do not chase what God has removed. Instead, seek the Lord! Press into His grace and His anointing.

Trust that He is keeping you from falling, and trust that one day, you will look back with exceeding joy and thank Him for the closed doors. You will be wonderfully blessed!
