👣 I Thought I Had Ruined My Future — But God Was Writing My Story

“The LORD will fulfill His purpose for me.” — Psalm 138:8

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

There was a time in my life when I truly believed I had completely wasted my future.

I was not an outstanding student. I wasn’t academically gifted, and I severely lacked self-confidence. During my teenage years, I drifted into sinful habits that slowly began to cloud my life and take me down the wrong path. As I looked around and watched others move forward with ease, a heavy question constantly weighed on my heart: Will my life ever amount to anything?

Looking back over my journey today, I see something entirely extraordinary: God was guiding every single step, even when I was completely blind to His hand. Psalm 138:8 has become the anchor of my life:

“The LORD will fulfill His purpose for me.”

And if you are walking through a season of doubt or delay today, I believe this can become your testimony too.

✝️ Chapter 1: The Beginning of Grace

During the final years of my schooling, the Lord graciously touched my heart. That tender moment became the true beginning of my walk with Christ.

However, even after coming to know the Lord, I still made many major life decisions according to my own limited understanding rather than seeking His divine guidance. And as expected, the painful consequences soon followed.

🌑 Chapter 2: Failure, Shame, and Delay

My college years turned into one long, exhausting struggle. Because of repeated academic failures and pending arrears, it took me several years just to complete my studies.

Those years were some of the darkest of my life. Disappointment, depression, shame, and deep embarrassment flooded my mind. I often felt uncomfortable facing relatives and friends because my life felt entirely stagnant while everyone else seemed to be marching ahead.

Perhaps some of you reading this know that exact feeling—waking up every day with a quiet ache in your chest and wondering:

“Lord, have I completely missed Your plan for my life?”

💻 Chapter 3: The Door I Never Expected

During that painful season, while I was still trying desperately to clear my arrears, my mother encouraged me to join an external computer training program.

At first, I joined without any real interest or expectation. But slowly, something unexpected happened. I discovered a deep passion for computers and programming. Looking back now, I realize that while I thought I was simply attending a basic training course, God was already quietly building the foundation of my future behind the scenes.

👨‍🏫 Chapter 4: From Student to Teacher

Then, a remarkable door opened. The very same institution unexpectedly offered me an opportunity to become a trainer for beginner-level programs. Students were almost never given teaching responsibilities so early, but God opened that door wide.

That single opportunity completely changed the trajectory of my life. I was someone who had always disliked studying or reading books. But now, responsibility forced me to grow—because I was accountable for teaching others. God used daily responsibility to stretch my capacity and build my character.

⚠️ Chapter 5: Humiliation That Became Preparation

Of course, the journey was far from easy. I faced intense criticism, heavy humiliation, and moments of paralyzing self-doubt.

I remember one specific day when a senior staff member walked into my classroom and began firing difficult technical questions at me in front of all my students. Because I was still learning myself, I couldn’t answer them immediately. I felt utterly humiliated and even considered resigning on the spot.

Yet, by God’s grace, I chose to stay and persevere.

Years later, the Lord elevated me into a senior leadership role among the trainers. And in a humbling twist of grace, the very same person who had once tried to humiliate me later sat in my class to learn new technologies. At that moment, a profound truth settled into my heart: God honors perseverance, humility, and quiet faithfulness.

🏢 Chapter 6: The Wrong Door

Seeking a fresh start later on, I accepted an opportunity at a small company outside my hometown, believing it would be my big breakthrough.

Instead, it turned into one of the most draining seasons of my life. We reported to work at 7:00 AM and often labored until 11:30 PM. Even basic meal times depended entirely on management’s approval, and some nights I returned home so late that every food shop in town was closed.

Eventually, I realized a painful truth: I had walked through that door out of my own ambition, without truly seeking God’s guidance. Exhausted, broken, confused, and deeply ashamed, I left and returned home. When I went back to my previous institution, many people mocked me for leaving and having to crawl back. But God was not finished writing my story.

🌿 Chapter 7: God’s Green Pastures

Once again, the Lord opened an entirely unexpected door. Through a friend, I was introduced to a real-time software opportunity located in a quiet village.

Back in 2009, the idea of a successful software company running out of a village seemed almost impossible. But God had prepared that exact place specifically for me. Those became some of the most peaceful, fruitful years of my life. I gained invaluable real-time experience while surrounded by open fields, trees, and nature.

Right before joining that company, as I spent time in prayer seeking His will, the Lord brought Psalm 23:2 powerfully to my mind:

“He makes me lie down in green pastures.”

When I arrived at the village and saw the lush green fields surrounding my workplace, I was overwhelmed to tears by how intimately God speaks through His Word. Truly, His guidance is often much clearer in hindsight than in the heat of the moment.

🏜️ Chapter 8: The Wilderness Returns

In 2013, the client suddenly ended their contract, and the project closed overnight.

Once again, I found myself plunged into a wilderness. For nearly two months, I went from interview to interview, facing endless rejections, closed doors, shame, and bitterness. My heart was dead-set on working in a glittering metropolitan city, and I chased every urban opportunity I could find. Yet, every single door remained stubbornly locked.

✨ Chapter 9: The Door God Opened

Then, on an ordinary day, I received an unexpected phone call from a company right in my own hometown.

Honestly, I attended the interview with very little enthusiasm because my mind was still fixated on big-city dreams. But God had entirely different plans. By His grace, every single technical question asked during the interview happened to be something I was intimately familiar with—a rare coincidence that had never happened before. The CEO personally interviewed me, and through pure divine favor, I was selected.

Only much later did the big picture become clear: Every closed company, every fiery challenge, every humiliation, every difficult lesson, and every frustrating delay was God meticulously training me for the future He had prepared.

🏙️ Chapter 10: Looking Back

Today, I still work with that same company. And in His perfect, beautiful timing, God eventually fulfilled my deep desire to work in a metropolitan city as well—not through frantic human striving, but through His sovereign orchestration when my family circumstances required it.

When my company expanded operations into a major city a year later, they entrusted me with managing the branch there. Standing in that office, I was left completely speechless at how wonderfully God works.

📖 The Lesson God Taught Me

When I chased opportunities in my own strength and impatience, doors remained bolted shut. But when God’s appointed hour arrived, the right doors opened naturally, effortlessly.

This reminds me of the prophet Elisha. He didn’t run around desperately chasing his prophetic calling; God brought the calling directly to him at the appointed time.

Looking back now, the divine pattern is undeniable: God was directing my steps all along.

👑 My Final Encouragement to You

I am not a perfect person. I am not a great saint. In many ways, I feel entirely undeserving of His immense goodness. Yet, in His matchless mercy, the Lord chose me, guided me, carried me through the fire, and faithfully fulfilled His plans.

Today, I can say with absolute confidence:

• ✅ My failures were never wasted.
• ✅ My delays were never pointless.
• ✅ My humiliations were never meaningless.

God used every single one of them to shape me.

Psalm 138:8 is no longer just words on a page to me; it is my lived testimony:

“The LORD will fulfill His purpose for me.”

And dear friend, if you are reading this today:

• 💔 If you feel forgotten by everyone…
• 🌑 If you feel like your choices have completely ruined your story…

Remember this: God is still holding the pen. The difficult chapter you are struggling through today will soon become the powerful testimony you praise Him for tomorrow.

Because His promise remains unchanged:
