📖 “The king then took an oath: ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who has delivered me out of every trouble, I will surely carry out this very day what I swore to you by the Lord, the God of Israel: Solomon your son shall be king after me…’” — 1 Kings 1:29-30

❤️ Greetings, dear friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.

Have you ever received a clear promise from the Lord—perhaps through His Word, a prophetic message, or a deep whisper of the Holy Spirit—but when you look at your life, the exact opposite seems to be happening?

Today, while reading 1 Kings chapter 1, the Holy Spirit revealed a powerful truth to me about how God’s promises work in our lives, especially when we face confusing or contradictory circumstances.

❓ The Forgotten Promise

In his earlier days, King David made a firm promise to Bathsheba: her son, Solomon, would be the next king. However, as David grew old, a contradictory situation arose. Another son, Adonijah, put himself forward, gathered chariots, and declared, “I will be king.” (1 Kings 1:5).

Shockingly, even though David was aware of this, he didn’t intervene or question Adonijah’s actions. The promise seemed forgotten. The reality looked like Adonijah was going to take the throne, completely contradicting God’s plan for Solomon.

So, what changed everything? A reminder. When Bathsheba was informed of this by Nathan the prophet, she didn’t sit back in defeat. She went directly to King David and boldly reminded him of the promise he had made. Because she spoke up and claimed that promise, David immediately took an oath and established Solomon as king that very day.

🌧️ When Reality Contradicts the Promise

In our own lives, the Lord makes many beautiful promises to us. But in reality, we often face situations that completely contradict what God said.

Why does this happen?

⏳ Sometimes, God’s promises are waiting for His perfect timing.

🚶 Sometimes, there is a delay because of our own backsliding or drifting away.

⚔️ And sometimes, it is simply a spiritual battle.

But just like Bathsheba, we cannot sit back in silence when our circumstances don’t align with God’s word. If Bathsheba had never gone to David to remind him, the situation might have ended very differently.

Similarly, we see this in the life of Moses. When God’s wrath was kindled against the Israelites, Moses stood in the gap and reminded God of His promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and the people were saved.

💼 My Personal Testimony: Declaring the Promise

I want to share a personal experience with you. The Lord had given me a specific promise for my life:

📖 “The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God… you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.” — Deuteronomy 28:13

However, the reality in my workplace was completely unaligned with this verse. Instead of being at the top, I saw my position in the office diminishing. I felt like I was going backward, and negative thoughts about my future began to fill my mind. It was a massive contradiction to God’s word.

After sensing this spiritual attack, I corrected myself. Instead of complaining, I went into prayer and started declaring the exact promise the Lord made to me. Every single day, I prayed Deuteronomy 28:13 over my career. Whenever fear tried to enter my heart, I declared the promise and instantly felt the peace of God.

Slowly but surely, I began to see progress. The trajectory of my career shifted, the Lord opened new doors, and I eventually received a promotion!

🙏 A Word of Encouragement for You

If you are in a situation right now where it feels like God’s promises are failing or your current reality is the exact opposite of what you prayed for—do not be discouraged!

🗣️ Start declaring His promises. Speak them out loud in your daily prayers. Remind the Lord of what He said concerning your family, your health, your career, and your future. Keep declaring the promise until it is fulfilled.

You will definitely see deliverance. God is faithful, and He watches over His word to perform it.
